The New 2024 Chevrolet Malibu

For 2024, the Malibu becomes the 9th model for the 9th generation of this Chevy line. It is also the only sedan left within the entire Chevrolet family for next year. With a spacious interior and comfortable 5- passenger seating, this 4-door sedan is a staple.  

Among the many improvements to the Malibu model, Chevrolet made rear park assist standard for the entire series. Also standard: a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display console, which puts safety first. Now both driver and passengers can have clear rear visibility on a large screen when going in reverse. 

This front-wheel-drive machine also comes in an all-new color for the 2024 Malibu series: Lakeshore Blue Metallic. With a spacious trunk and a wide, Wi-Fi connected interior, the Malibu makes both days and nights a bit brighter.  

Though perhaps best of all, the Malibu’s turbocharged 160-horsepower 1.5-liter engine is fantastic at fuel economy. Averaging a combined 30 MPG or better, the Malibu is a responsible, well-oiled machine.

• Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection. 
• Lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.
• Adaptive cruise control. 

But that’s just the start of the amazing safety features. The Malibu boasts ten airbags, located at the front dash, at the knees, seat-mounted, and around the head. In addition to full rear-view visibility, the ample driver assistance technology includes Forward Collision Alerts, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, and even a Buckle to Drive system. 

The Malibu’s 1.5-liter, 160-hp engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission, able to adjust to any type of traffic scenario smoothly. Along with its elegant, turbocharged engine comes very impressive fuel economy for this roomy sedan. 

The 2024 Chevy Malibu gets 28 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway. Car & Driver estimated a net 30 MPG for combined highway and city miles, noting that on their 75-mph tests, the new Malibu earned, “a respectable 34 MPG over the course.” At 30 MPG or over, that’s sunny news to anyone’s ears. 

For 2024, the Chevy Malibu comes in four available trim levels, each with its own distinct size as far as wheel dimensions. Across the trim levels, All-Season Blackwall Tires come standard.  Additionally, every new 2024 Malibu also now comes with a tire inflation kit. The four 2024 Malibu trim levels follow. 

• The Chevy Malibu LS with 16” wheels
• The Chevy Malibu RS with 18” wheels
• The Chevy Malibu 1LT with 17” wheels 
• The Chevy Malibu 2LT with 19” wheels. 

While the LS gets the smallest wheelbase at 16 inches, the 2LT trim receives the largest wheel dimension at 19 inches. All trim levels feature the same turbocharged 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. All four trims also come with superior MacPherson suspension. 

Along with four possible trim levels and their four corresponding wheel dimensions, the 2024 Malibu also now comes in one of six colors, including one new color: metallic blue. The 2024 Malibu line also features three exquisite Special Edition vehicles, which each bring their own colors and unique features.  

To make room for this limited palette for 2024, Chevrolet decided to drop two colors that were previously available on the 2023 Malibu: Riverside Blue and Dark Ash Metallic.  

In addition to the new 5-color scheme lineup, three Chevy Malibu special editions will also be available on the 1LT and 2LT trims: a Midnight Edition, a Sport Edition, and a Redline Edition midsize sedan.  

Standout Features 

• Midnight Edition: As its name suggests, this limited-edition Malibu brings a blacked-out grille with black 19” wheels and Chevy emblems, as well as a Mosaic Black Metallic exterior. 
• Sport Edition: This limited Malibu features your choice of color, including red which is not otherwise available, as well as a sleeker look and a sporty black nameplate badge.
• Redline Edition: This incredible Malibu special edition features 19” black aluminum wheels with Red hashmarks, complemented by black outside mirrors with Redline decals, and more perks.   

For 2024, there are four Chevy Malibu trim levels—LS, RS, 1LT and 2LT—each bringing its own distinct wheel size and other perks. For details on the incoming Malibu’s fabulous trims, here’s the breakdown.  

This base model in the incoming Malibu series offers everything a driver could want: a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, advanced onboard safety technology such as StabiliTrak and Pedestrian Braking, plus 10 airbags for maximum passenger safety.  

While all the Malibu trims feature the same powerful 1.5L Turbo 4-Cylinder Engine, paired expertly with an 8-speed automatic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the Malibu LS also features Halogen headlamps and IntelliBeam technology—all standard. A MacPherson strut on the front and 4-link suspension in the rear both help to expertly balance out the Malibu’s suspension.  

Also standard, an Acoustic Laminated Windshield to dampen all outside noise. With a responsive 7-inch touchscreen and extremely comfortable cloth bucket seats, the Malibu LS should really make a splash.  

Among the four possible Malibu trims, the RS unlocks 18” aluminum wheels with All-Season Blackwall Tires. The black Malibu badge also comes standard on the RS, along with a black front grille surrounded in chrome.  

The Malibu RS also brings outside power mirrors, dual-zone climate control, dual exhaust outlets, and a sexy rear spoiler. Its safety features are numerous and include a Driver Confidence Package, Chevy Safety Assist, plus IntelliBeam, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Following Distance Indicator alerts. 

Of the four possible trim levels, the 2024 Malibu LT unlocks some exciting, limited-edition options. The LT also features a distinct 17” wheel dimension, for enhanced road handling. The Malibu LT also offers remote engine start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front seats.

Best of all, it provides an advanced 8-inch touchscreen with important safety features, including a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert system. The LT also receives a premium interior, with such luxury features as leather seats and an available power sunroof.  

Last but certainly not least among the four stunning Malibu trims, the 2024 2LT brings the most luxurious touches into one powerful sedan. The 2LT offers heated and ventilated front seats, leather driver and passenger seats, even a heated steering wheel—found only on the 2LT.  

The Malibu 2LT also features a premium surround-sound system, wireless charging, 6-way power controls for passenger seats, even an available power sunroof. The 2LT also features the largest tires on the Malibu series, with a 19” wheel dimension.
